Whale Watching, Storms & Sunsets

January 20th, 2010

We’ve been enjoying magnificent Storms here next to the cozy fireplace; we’ve also been sighting 10-18 Gray Whales a day as they are making their winter migration past our B&B here, & watching the most gorgeous sunsets.

Valentines Day is approaching, we’re the perfect place for Romance here on the coast!

The annual Newport SeaFood & Wine Festival is February 26th – 28th, we have a free shuttle bus to & from the event all weekend, it’s a fun time here you don’t want to miss it!

Oregon Coast Storm Watching in Newport

November 7th, 2009

The last couple of dayshave been magnificent for storm watchers here at Ocean House & Tyee Lodge Bed & Breakfasts. The huge waves are crashing against the Yaquina Head cliffs & the tides are surging all the way up to the base of our bluff here.  We have been watching through our windows from our cozy reading chairs by the fireplace while enjoying a complimentary beverage from the Inn’s selection including wines, coffee, teas, hot chocolate, hot cider and delicious homemade cookies.  Some of our guests are adventurous enough to brave the winds for a closer look. This is an awesome place for storm watching!

Guests love our beach front bed and breakfast

November 4th, 2009

We’re honored when guests appreciate our service as well as the inviting rooms and great views of the Pacific Ocean at Tyee Lodge and Ocean House Inns.  Here’s a comment we received from one of our recent guests. It really made our day!!

“We are home from our travels down the coast and we stayed at several B&B’s along our way.  I wanted you to know that we enjoyed yours the best. Perhaps yours wasn’t the most luxurious one we stayed at (although still very nice!) It was your generosity, your wealth of information (when asked for it), your sincerity in wanting to provide a comfortable place and the cleanliness which really stood out the most. What I appreciated is the absolutely best breakfasts (we stayed at B&B’s that had their own chef and still your breakfasts AND cookies were the best we tasted!) The wine was a great added touch, so were the raincoats, and the grounds were beautiful. Hopefully we will be lucky enough to return to your lovely area and if we do there is only one place I would stay!”

We would love to give you the same experience.  Come on over to the Central Oregon coast to our bed and breakfast for your relaxing get-away.

Autumn at our central Oregon coast bed and breakfast

October 21st, 2009

It’s a great time of year to be at the central Oregon coast!!  Fall provides nature watching at its best here at Tyee Lodge and Ocean House Inn starting with the drive to the beach.  The highways wind through colorful forests of coastal live oaks, maples and a myriad of other deciduous trees mingled with the evergreens.  Here at the bed and breakfasts, our gardens are still lovely and the pathways to the beach lead to all kinds of treasures.  Right now, a large flock of Brown Pelicans is gathering on Agate Beach below us, feasting and resting for their migration to Mexico.  We have spotted whale spouts already but keep in mind that the largest California gray whale migration southward past Newport, Oregon will happen during the last of December and first of January.  Book with us now to reserve your best whale watching room!
